Working at UMHT

Background

Tansen Mission Hospital is partnered with United Mission to Nepal (UMN). UMN is a Christian INGO working exclusively in Nepal since 1954 and its mission is "To minister to the needs of the people of Nepal in the Name and Spirit of Christ and to make Christ known by word and life, thereby strengthening the universal Church in its total ministry". All non-Nepali UMN staff are Christian volunteers from many supporting partner organisations and include 18 nationalities.

All long-term expatriate team members in Tansen are committed Christians and do not receive a salary or remuneration of any kind from UMN or Tansen Mission Hospital. All come through a sending mission organization from their own country, which provides backup and support. Expatriates work here on a voluntary, self-supported basis; however, mission organizations play a large role in helping their members to raise appropriate funding. All members are expected to agree with the UMN statement of faith.
